Ingredients
Grated Coconut1 Cup*
Urad Dal1 Tablespoon
Bengal Gram Dal1 Tablespoon
Red Chilli2
Peppercorns1/2 teaspoon
Asafoetida a Pinch
Tmarind1 cranberry Size
SaltTo Taste
Coconut Oil2 Teaspoon


Method:
  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add urad dal, bengal gram dal, red chilli and peppercorns and fry till the dal turns light brown color
  2. Then, add grated coconut, tamarind and asafoetida and fry till the coconut turns light brown color
  3. Cool all the roasted ingredients and take it to a mixer jar along with salt. Grind everything to a coarse paste
  4. Now the Thengai Thuvayal is ready to serve with hot rice
