As its name suggest, its made using Aval.

Aval - 1 Cup
Salt - to taste
Grated Cocunut - 2 tablespoon

For Seasoning:
Oil - 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
Red Chillies - 2
Urdhal - 1 teaspoon
Hing - a pinch

  • Rinse the aval with water and add salt and keep it aside
  • Pour the oil in the pan and add the mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds begins to sputter add the urdhal and fry it till it becomes red color and then add the broken red chillies and fry it.
  • Now add the aval and stir it evenly and then add the grated cocunut and switch off the flame
  • The yummy aval uppuma is ready to serve
  • Instead of grated cocunut we can also use chopped onions and green chillies
