Moong Dal / Thur Dal - 2 teaspoon(For 4 months, we can take only 1 teaspoon)
Carrot - 1/2 piece
Potato - 1 small piece
Beans - 1
Spinach - few leaves
Garlic - 1 clove(if big or 2 if small). Adding Garlic reduces gas formation due to high amount of protein.
Salt - a Pinch
- Rinse the dal in water. Wash the vegetables
- Peel the skin of carrot and potato and finely chop all the vegetables
- Add the vegetables, dal in a vessel and add garlic to it and pressure cook it
- Once the dal and vegetables are cooked completely, smash it using ladle or grind it once in mixer and add salt and feed the babies.
From 9 months, we can include rice along with dal and vegetables. It is always good to prepare separate poha/rice for the toddlers.
Take 1 ladle of rice and add 4 ladles of water and pressure cook it along with dal and vegetables. This ratio of rice and water will nicely cook the rice so that we can easily smash the rice, dal and vegetables and add a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper and feed the babies. Instead, we can add little rasam and mix well and feed the baby.
