Home made potato chips are really a tasty treat than the store bought chips. We have more quantities and from kids to elders everyone love to crunch this delicious snack. Just a bowl of potato chips with tea is a wonderful evening snack and we all know kids love this very much. Why buying of packed chips, if we can make this treat in our home itself?

Ingredients:
Potato2 medium size
Saltto taste
Oil For Frying

Method:

  • Take 2 medium sized potatoes and peel it
  • Using slicer, finely slice the potatoes. Each slice should be very thin like a paper
  • Soak the slice of potatoes in a bowl of cold water with 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • Soak the potatoes in salt water for 10 minutes and then rinse and drain the water


  • Take the drained potato slices and spread it on a paper towel. 
  • Using another paper towel gently press the slices of potatoes to extract the water


  • In a heavy bottomed pan, add oil and keep the flame medium
  • Test the oil by dropping a small slice of potato and if it slowly raises in oil, then the heatness is perfect. The potatoes should not raise in oil immediately, because, over heatness may burn the potatoes
  • Once the potato slices are dried, take it in a plate and keep ready for frying


  • Gently drop 8-10 slices of potatoes in the oil. 
  • Do not drop more as we need space for the slices to fry in oil
  • Gently turn the potato slices using a spatula
  • Keep the flame in medium low and allow the slices to fry till it becomes crunchy
  • Take the crunchy chips from oil and place it in a paper towel to drain excess oil
  • Store the chips in a air tight container


  • Sprinkle some salt if needed and also if we want we can sprinkle some pepper powder for spicy taste
  • The crunchy potato chips are ready to serve

Potato Chips

Thayir vadai is a very delicious south Indian snack. I love to make this dish very often and even i would always order this when i go for any hotels. Thayir vadai is simple to make. Many people think that preparing Dhahi vada in house is not delicious as we eat in hotels. But i bet, if we follow the below method, we can get the same taste and i could say that ours is too tasty compared to the hotels. Try this and let me know your comments!

Gulabjamoon is a traditional recipe that everyone will do for Diwali. But this is a little variation from the original recipe. With potatoes, we can make many recipes and this is one such awesome sweet with potatoes. Its fluffy and tasty that makes us to eat more of these gulab jamoons. Try this jamoon and let me know your comments!

Potato Gulabjamoon
 Ingredients:
Potatoes5 to 6 medium sized
All purpose Flour(Maida)1 Cup
Sugar2.5 cups
Cardamom1/2 teaspoon
Water1.5 cups
GheeFor Frying
Ghee1 tablespoon

Method:
  • Pressure cook the potatoes and peel them and smash the potatoes finely and take this in a bowl
  • To the smashed potatoes, add maida flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar and ghee and mix well
  • Knead the dough nicely and make it like a chapati dough. The dough will be sticky so don't worry about that. 
  • Wet your hands with water and take small quantity of dough and rub it to make 1.5 inch long pieces vertically. We can also make the traditional ball shape pieces out of the dough
  • In a separate pan, add water and sugar and bring it to boil. Keep in low flame and stir continuously till we get mild one string consistency of the sugar syrup. 
  • Once we  get the right consistency, add cardamon powder and keep the sugar syrup in a very low flame.
  • Heat ghee in a pan, and make the flame medium so that the ghee won't be heated too much. When the ghee is hot enough, gently put the rolled dough pieces into the ghee. We can put 6-8 pieces and it depends upon the amount of ghee we are using. 
  • Once the pieces are cooked, take it and place it in a paper towel to drain excess ghee and then after 2  minutes, put them into the sugar syrup

  • The enticing delicious potato jamoons are ready to serve hot or cold
