Lemon juice helps to control Blood Pressure, purifies blood, reduces swollen spleen, and strengthens immune system as it has vitamin C, B, B2, calcium and iron. It protects your body against germs and bacteria. Drink lemon juice everyday and its very good for health. Here is the traditional south indian recipe made of lemon juice. Lemon rice is one of the easiest and quickest rice variety and a great lunch box dish too. Most of the kids I have seen love lemon rice with potato fry. We used to do this simple and yummy dish very frequently. Whenever I feel like bored of doing usual SouthIndian thali, I would prefer to do variety rices and lemon rice would be one among them. 

Peoples' general tendency is to throw the skin of some of the vegetables and fruits. But actually there are lot of nutrients/minerals in many vegetables and fruits. Orange is one such fruit. The skin of orange is also rich in citrus contents and it is healthy for us. So i prepared this recipe by using the skin of orange. It is a very delicious kuzhambu with citrus flavour.

I tasted this wonderful recipe in one of my friends house and the taste was extraordinary. Capsicum is a healthy and tasty vegetable. We can do this Capsicum masala curry using only with green Capsicum or green bell pepper. But I tried this with both green and red bell pepper and it turned out more tasty. This goes great with Chapati/Roti and Rice. Try this wonderful recipe and let me know your comments!!!

Recently, I happen to see Cauliflower malligae recipe presented by Mr.Venkatesh Bhat in Vijay TV Kitchen Super star. Immediately I decided to make this wonderful dish. I tried this and the very first time itself, its a big hit. The taste is dainty. Generally I dont prefer cauliflower but this dish fascinated me to make more dishes using cauliflower. Cauliflower marinated with green paste fried in oil makes this dish so tasty. Let me explain the recipe now..

Preparation Time15 mins
Cooking Time 20 mins

Gobi / Cauliflower1 small size
Mint leaves1 handfull
Coriander leaves1 handfull
Curry leaves1 handfull
Green Chillies2
Garlic cloves5
Gram Flour1/4 Cup
Rice flour1/4 Cup
Corn Flour1/4 Cup
Turmeric1/4 teaspoon
OilFor Frying

  1. Cut the cauliflower into medium size florets and put it in water along with turmeric powder and keep it aside for 15 mins

  2. Meanwhile, take the mint leaves, coriander leaves and curry leaves and wash it thoroughly. 

  3. Grind all these green leaves to a nice paste along with green chillies and garlic cloves

  4. After 15 minutes, take the cauliflower florets from the water and take it in a bowl. Add the ground paste and mix well along. Then add gram flour, rice flour and corn flour along with salt and mix all of them well to coat the cauliflower florets evenly. The flours are added to coat the green paste nicely in the florets and also while frying, these flours will give crispiness to the cauliflower florets

  5. Heat oil in pan for frying. When the oil is hot enough, gently drop the florets in and fry it in medium-high flame

  6. Gently turn the florets to fry evenly and till it becomes crisp

  7. The crispy and yummy cauliflower malligae is ready to serve. We take a pan, add broken green chillies and 1 teaspoon of curd and mix the fried cauliflower malligae and toss it and serve hot.

I got this recipe from one of my friend who is in Bangalore. Karnataka Tamarind Rice is a slight variation from the normal and traditional tamarind rice. The main difference is the powder we prepare and also the grated coconut. We can serve karnataka tamarind rice with any fried vegetable or a sutta appalam.
