Karamani Payaru Masala | Yard Long Beans Masala, is my third daughter-in-law's recipe. I used to make poriyal or poricha kuzhambu with Karamani Payaru, but for the first time when my daughter-in-law prepared this yummy masala, our whole family was happy to taste this delicious dish. This dish can be either served with Chapati / Roti or we can also mix this yummy masala with hot steaming rice!

Ingredients:

Yard Long Beans (Karamani Payaru)200gms
Tomato
Mint Leaves15-20 leaves
Chopped Ginger1 tablespoon
Chopped Garlic1 tablespoon
Turmeric1/4 teaspoon
Red Chilli Powder1 teaspoon
Cumin Powder1 teaspoon
SaltTo Taste
Oil1 tablespoon
Cumin Seeds1/2 teaspoon
Chopped Coriander Leaves1 tablespoon



Karamani Payaru Masala | Yard Long Beans Masala

Method:
  1. Wash and chop the karamani Payaru(Long Beans) in 1/2' inch length. Take the chopped long beans in a pan and add water and turmeric and cook the long beans on stove top. We can also pressure cook it and allow for 2 whistles in pressure cooker

  2. Finely chop the tomatoes and wash the mint leaves. Take the tomatoes, mint leaves, chopped ginger and garlic in a mixer and grind it to a nice paste

  3. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. When the cumin seeds starts to sputter, add the ground masala and allow it to cook in low flame. Add salt, turmeric, cumin powder and red chilli powder and mix well and allow the masala to cook completely so that the oil gets separated and started oozing out of the masala. This process will take atleast 7-10 minutes

  4. Once the masala is cooked, add cooked karamani and mix well. Adjust salt if needed. Allow the long beans masala gravy to boil. Finally garnish with coriander leaves and remove from flame

  5. The yummy Karamani Payaru Masala | Yard Long Beans Masala is now ready to serve with Roti / Chapati or with steaming hot rice
