Panna cotta is a very popular dessert from Italian Cuisine. The main secret ingredient added to get jelly like texture is Gelatin. Most of us doesn't include gelatin as it is obtained from various animal byproducts. The alternative for Gelatin is Agar Agar which is obtained from plants. So, instead of gelatin, we can use agar agar to get jelly texture. We can get Agar Agar in chinese shops or in Indian grocery shops or even in Amazon. Ingredients for Coconut Cream Layer:
Coconut Milk1.5 Cups*
Fresh Cream1/2 Cup
Sugar1/4 Cup
Agar Agar Powder2 Teaspoon
Warm Water4 Tablespoon


Ingredients for Mango Coulis:
Mango Puree2 Cups
Sugar2.5 tablespoon
Lemon Juice2 teaspoon
Agar Agar Powder2 Teaspoon
Warm Water4 Tablespoon

Method for Coconut Cream Layer:
  1. Take agar agar powder in a bowl. Add warm water and stir thoroughly so that the agar agar gets nicely dissolved. Set this aside
  2. Take a sauce pan. Heat coconut milk, fresh cream. Add sugar and stir well in medium flame till the sugar dissolves completely. 
  3. Switch off the flame. Add the agar agar mixture and stir well till it is completely incorporated with the coconut milk and cream mixture.
  4. Pour the coconut cream mixture in 4 individual glass containers till the half of each container. Cover each container with a cling wrap and place the containers in the refrigerator 
  5. We can place each container slightly tilted within a cup cake tin and then pour the cream mixture so that we can have a nice curvy cream mixture set nicely in refrigerator
  6. Allow the cream mixture to stay in refrigerator for 4-6 hours till it set nicely.
  7. When the cream mixture is nicely set, then lets prepare mango coulis
Method for Mango Coulis:
  1. Take agar agar powder in a bowl. Add warm water and stir thoroughly so that the agar agar gets nicely dissolved. Set this aside
  2. Heat mango puree in a sauce pan. Add sugar and stir well so that the sugar nicely dissolved in the puree. Switch off the flame
  3. Add lemon juice and stir well. Finally add agar agar mixture and stir well till it is fully incorporated with the mango puree.
  4. Pour the mango coulis on top of the set coconut cream mixture and set the containers in the refrigerator and set it aside for 4 hours
  5. The delicious Mango Coconut Panna Cotta is ready! Garnish with mint leaves or sweetened coconut flakes and enjoy the panna cotta
