I have added little jaggery to bring out the tanginess of the tamarind. Mix this healthy Bittergourd Vatha Kuzhambu with rice and you would surely want more and more!

Red Coconut Chutney, is a very popular chutney variety in most of the southern parts of Tamil Nadu. A spicy version of Coconut chutney with a rich flavor of garlic and onions. Then I tried making orange rasam and it turned out delicious. Orange Rasam, a Rasam flavored with Orange zest, lemon and orange juice, and freshly ground rasam powder. A very tempting and appetizing rasam. Can be served as soup also.

Adai Aviyal is one of the famous tamil traditional protein rich breakfast dish. Aviyal goes very well with Adai. This Aviyal is little different from the Aviyal i make for the lunch. I add curd instead of tamarind here. Next time when you have any guest for the breakfast, try adai aviyal instead of conventional idly/dosa and I am sure they will appreciate this dish. You can also try this for an evening snack though its heavy.

Peas Pulao is a simple rice variety made using Basmati rice and Green Peas. We can cook this in a pressure cooker, microwave, rice cooker or directly in a Tawa. I prefer not to use the pressure cooker for the Pulao as the rice will get s]mashed due to the pressure. A very simple and easy to make rice variety. Since this is very plain rice without much of masalas or spices, it is better to serve with dal or any other veggie gravy along with a raitha of your choice.

Cookies are always favorite for kids. Most of the store bought cookies  might have been made of bleached flour which is not good for the health. I would love to make cookies at home using wholewheat flour which is considerably better than the store bought cookies. This is one such simple cookie made with wholewheat flour. These Wholewheat Butter Cookies are very crispy and delicious and a best accompaniment for a cup of hot coffee / tea.

Red Velvet Cake, a cake with red color or red-brown color. It is traditionally prepared as a layered cake with cream cheese topping. Beetroot or red food color is added to get the dark red color in the cake. A moist Red Velvet cake is a perfect dessert for a festive mood. Masala Chaai (Masala Tea) is a one of the favorite Indian beverage. Aroma rich homemade masala powder along with fresh ginger, milk, sugar & tea powder, makes this tea really delicious. Most of us love Masala chai compared to plain tea. Instead of using whole masala every time we make tea, we can use the whole masala to make masala powder and store it in air-tight container and use it whenever we make tea. This masala chai powder gives a wonderful flavor to the tea and the spice we will enjoy with the hot tea.

Kara Vadai is one of the popular snack in Nagercoil. A simple to make crispy evening snack. Its made with urial , raw rice and parboiled rice along with spices and herbs. Sometimes, we feel to bit something spice and crispy in the evening along with a hot tea / coffee. This would be so good when you serve hot. If the kara vadai cools down, then it will be little tough to consume. Also we need a dip like coconut chutney or green coconut chutney to consume this delicious Kara vadai.

Beetroot poriyal, a healthy thuvaran / poriyal for any rice varieties. This recipe is slightly different from the traditional way of doing poriyal. Generally we cook the vegetable and then do the seasoning. I tasted this wonderful taste of beetroot poriyal in one of my Telugu friends home and the variation made the dish an extraordinary taste.
