Chips are all time favorite for kids and all of us. Instead of buying from shops we can make homemade chips which are free from preservatives and other chemicals. Homemade Sweet Potato chips are crispy and crunchy and hygienic too. Instead of usual potatoes, we can make these chips little healthier by using sweet potato. Sweet Potato are nutrition rich and very good for health. But many of us doesn't like it because of its sweetness. Sweet potato puree is very healthy for babies. So in one way, we are adding sweet potato in a crunchy way

Drumstick Leaves are very rich in Iron. It is very healthy dish to include in our routine diet. We can make many different dishes using drumstick leaves. Drumstick Leaves Stew (Murungai Keerai Kootu) is one such dish. A very healthy and iron and protein rich dish that will make our diet healthy. We are concocting drumstick leaves along with protein rich moong dal and also with coconut based spice paste. A vert tasty and delicious dish, best served with any South Indian Main dishes. 

Panchamel dal is a traditional dal variety from Rajastani Cuisine. It is Protein rich dish as we need to concoct 5 different dal along with Indian Spices. This is one of the no onion no garlic dal. 5 different days such as whole green moong, toor dal, channa dal, masoor dal and split urad dal are soaked for few hours and then pressure cooked and concocted with tomato based spice masala. A wonderful healthy accompaniment for any Indian flat bread like roti, naan, kulcha and also nice with jeera rice and other rice varieties.

Aloo Channa Chaat is one of the popular Indian Chaat. Potato, chick peas are mixed with Chaat chutney and other spices. A sweet and tangy snack for the evening. We can find this dish in most of the restaurants, office pantries and also in road side shops. The potatoes and chick peas is so stuffy and make us feel full. As we all know chick peas is rich in proteins, this is one of the healthiest snack.

Muscat Halwa, is a very popular Halwa variety. This Muscat Halwa originated from Srilanka. But it is very popular in Southern Tamilnadu. Many of us actually get confused with the popular Tirunelveli Halwa. But actually this Muscat halwa is made out of coconut milk, maida milk and sugar. The maida is kneaded to a dough and water added again knead well to extract the milk. The milk is then kept overnight so that thickness of milk gets sedimented in the bottom leaving thin milk at the top. That maida milk mixed with coconut milk along with sugar and churned well to make delicious halwa. Instead of maida milk, I have used broken wheat milk to make it little healthier. In the conventional Tirunelveli halwa, we use wheat milk with ghee and sugar but there instead of ghee we are using coconut milk extract from fresh coconut. The oil in the coconut milk will ooze out when the halwa is done. A little extra patience and also hand strength need to make this delicious halwa. 

Yard Beans Masala is one of the delicious accompaniment for any Indian flat bread. We always look for accompaniments without onion-garlic and this is one such delicious dish without them. Most of the usual dry curries and gravies we can very well make without onion-garlic. Always dry curries are easy to make without onion and garlic and we also get a good quantity.  Especially this Yard beans with potato, it very tasty and also we get a considerable quantity of accompaniment to serve. Serve with Roti or rice and enjoy. 

Are you getting bored of the upma ? Does your kids and family doesn't want to see the upma for their breakfast?? Are they telling some excueses and skipping the breakfast when they see upma as the breakfast dish??? Try Rawa Kichadi which is nothing but the same upma with vegetables but it is much tastier and your family love this. Sicne it has more vegetables than the conventional upma it is good for health too..

Pineapple Rasam is a special variety of rasam. The pineapple adds distinct flavour and taste. Pineapple rasam/kesari are my favourite as I love the wonderful smell of this fruit. When I was young, I used to think that pineapple rasam would be sweeter, hence, I had not tasted for a long time. Then once in my friends home in Thiruvananthapuram I tasted this wonderful dish and I was so excited about the delicous taste of this rasam. Henceforth I make pineapple rasam often and especially to treat my guests. You can serve this as a soup in a bowl or serve with white rice and pappad. I always prefer to have this rasam with Potato Fry.

Green coconut chutney is one of the common chutney being served in all the restaurants along with Idli/Dosa in Tamil Nadu. This is being prepared with the right mix of coconut and fresh coriander leaves along with other spices.  It is one of the best accompaniment for the  south indian breakfast dishes and also with the snacks like Bujji, Vada, Bonda, etc.,

Kara Kuzhambu served in hotel has a very nice flavor and taste. Always I love the kara kuzhambu served with the South Indian Meals. When we make at home, we make kara kuzhambu very simple. The main secret ingredient is fennel seeds and coconut. That adds a nice masala taste to the kara kuzhambu. We can enrich this kara kuzhambu with shallots, brinjal or ladysfinger. Serve this delicious Hotel Style Kara Kuzhambu with hot steaming rice along with a spoon of gingerly oil. 

Ragi (Finger millet) has lot of nutritional benefits. We can make many variety of dishes with ragi. This Ragi Halwa (Kezhvaragu Halwa) is very simple to make and it is a perfect and healthy dessert.  Always jaggery and coconut goes well with Ragi. For ragi laddoo, we use jaggery and ragi and for ragi puttu, we use ragi, sugar and coconut. So I love this combination.  A yummy way to consume Ragi and hope you will enjoy too.

Aloo Jeera (Jeera Aloo) is one of the popular dry curry in most of the Indian Restaurants. A very simple and easy to make dish with one of the favorite veggie Potato. Steam cooked potatoes are tossed in spices and finally garnished with coriander leaves. I have used ginger and garlic which gives a nice flavor, but you can make this dish without garlic also. Serve these delicious Aloo Jeera (Jeera Aloo)  with Indian flat bread or any rice varieties of your choice. I personally like with peas pulao.
