Want to grab a quick snack with hot coffee / tea in the evening? Then, this Aval Vadai is one of the crunchy and yummy evening snack! Very easy and hassle free snack to make. The conventional Medhuvadaa or masala vada needs dals to be soaked and then grinding with spices, followed by deep frying. But this is just an instant vada, we could just gather all the required ingredients in 10 minutes and make this yummy snack for a nice evening!

Tips for making Aval Vada:

  • We can use thin or thick variety of poha. For thin variety, 10 mins soaking itself is enough. But for thicker variety of poha, we may need soaking atleast for 20-30 mins
  • Instead of chopped Green chili, we can grind green chili and ginger and add it like paste. This will be helpful if we have kids at home so they don’t bite the green chili pieces
  • We can add chopped spinach along with mashed poha
  • If you feel the vada mixture is not binding together, we can add rice flour which will help to bind. Or we can use mashed potato to bind the mixture
  • Always fry the vada in low flame till golden brown and crispy

You can also try:

  1. Masal Vada
  2. Tirupati Milagu Vada
  3. Cabbage Vada
  4. Keerai (Spinach) Vada
  5. Vazhaipoo Vada
