Pachai Payaru Sundal is one of the quick and easy sundal variety that we make for Navarathri using Green Moong Dal. We can make both Sweet and Savory version using Pahai Payaru (Green Moong Dal). This recipe is the savory version of the Sundal. This Green moong Sundal (Pachaipayiru Sundal) is also simple to make and it is so healthy and delicious. So protein-rich sundal that would make a healthy evening snack too.

Soaking is Optional but helps

I recommend to soak this dal for 2-3 hours and pressure cook over 2 whistles. However if you are running short of time and have not soaked the sundal, then you can dry fry the sundal for 2-3 minutes and pressure cook over 4-5 whistles.

Sundal Powder enhances the taste

Sundal Powder comes very handy during Navarathri season. We can add a tablespoon of Sundal powder which enhances the flavor and taste of the sundal. If you don’t have it handy  then you can just add red chili powder / temper with one more red chili.

Do you need to soak the moong dal, or cook it without the need to soak?
