Palkova | Palgova Recipe | Thirattupal Recipe is a delicious dessert made in southern part of India. It is famous in Srivelliputhur in Tamilnadu. This is a tasty Indian Dessert with only 2 ingredients, milk and sugar.  A decade before, people used to prepare this dish in home itself. But nowadays we are buying it from sweet stalls. If we do it in our home it will be surely delicious and we can reduce the quantity of sugar if necessary. It will take at least 45Min’s to prepare Palkova (Pal therattipal / Palgova)and one more advantage is that we do not need to stir the milk continuously. We have stir it at the time when milk initially boils and in regular intervals to scrape the milk solids into the milk and at the final stage stir continuously. Though this conventional method takes more time, it’s worth spending for its taste and flavor.

Palkova | Palgova Recipe | Thirattupal Recipe is one of the very common sweet that we make in our home. My MIL is very fond of this sweet and she often do this when we have excess milk in our home. It’s very delicious and tasty and liked by every individuals in our family.

Nowadays, we can make this Palkova | Palgova Recipe | Thirattupal Recipe quickly using milk powder, condensed milk or even with Ricotta Cheese. All those are simple, quick but still the conventional preparation has its own unique taste and flavor compared to the way around ingredients.

Heat the Milk

In a heavy bottomed pan, heat the milk. Stir the milk to avoid overflow. Allow the milk to boil till it becomes thicker and reduces to 1 cup of quantity

Add the sugar

Now add sugar and continuously stir for 5Min’s till the Palkova starts to thicken without sticking on to the sides of pan. You can take a small quantity of palkova in spoon and put it on a plate. Wet your hands and take the palkova in plate and try to roll it. If it rolls like a ball, then the consistency is correct. While testing this, keep the flame very low. If the palkova doesn’t gets rolled up, then keep stirring it in low flame for couple of minutes and then again test it.

Once the palkova rolls like a ball and doesn’t stick on the sides of the pan, Remove from flame. Now the delicious Pal therattipal(Palkova) is ready for serving. We can get 1 cup of palkova from 1 litre of milk.

Serving Time

We can pour the palkova in a greased plate or bowl and make desired shapes. Serve the yummy palkova. We can store it in air-tight container and use it for a week also.

Hi,

I'm a male and after reading the "Paal Therattippaal" receipe, wanted to try it myself. I did and it came out so yummy!!! I gave it to my wife to taste without mentioning that I had prepared it and she loved it 🙂 Thank you for this lovely receipe.

This process is 2 old…u can make this receipe in microwave in 5-7 min…1 tin milkmaid, 2 tbsp curd, 2 tbsp milk powder….Mix well n set time n keep storing ever few seconds n u will see in a jiffy it's ready
