Tomato Rice (Thakkali Sadham) using Conventional Method

Tomato Rice (Thakkali Sadham) using Conventional Method is one of the famous variety rice in Tamilnadu / south inda and one can cook it easily and quickly. Tomatos are good for health and has lot of medical properties. It prevents Diarrhea and reduces high blood pressure. It also good for Coronary Heart Heath and prevents / heals certain typs of cancer. There are many different ways to cook tomato rice and one of the very simplest and quickest method is given below.

Ingredients:
Cooked Rice 1 Cup
Tomato 2, finely chopped
Onion 1, finely chopped
Chopped Ginger 1/2 Teaspoon
Chopped Garlic 1/2 Teaspoon
Turmeric Powder 1/4 teaspoon
Sambar Powder 1/2 teaspoon
Green Chilli 2 chopped
Coriander Leaves For Garnishing
Roasted Cashews 1 Tablespoon

 

* 1 Cup = 250ml



For Seasoning:

Gingelly Oil 2 Tablespoon
Mustard Seeds 1 Teaspoon
Cumin Seeds 1 Teaspoon
Split Urad dal 1 Teaspoon
Bengal Gram Dal 1 Tablespoon
Curry Leaves Few

Method:

    1. Chop finely tomato and onion. Chop the Green chilli and keep it aside
    2. Heat the oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds once the oil is hot. When the mustard seeds start to sputter add the dhals and fry till they become golden brown color.

 

    1. Add the chopped Green chilli and curry leaves and fry for a minute. Now add finely chopped onions.

 

    1. Add chopped ginger and garlic and saute the onions till they are transparent. Then add chopped tomatoes

 

    1. Now add turmeric powder, sambar powder and necessary salt and allow the tomatoes to cook till the tomatoes are mushy and the oil starts to ooze out.

 

    1. Switch off the flame. Add the cooked fluffy rice and mix it gently

 

    1. The delicious Tomato Rice is ready to Serve. Garnish with roasted cashews and coriander leaves!

what if you dont have ginger garlic paste, but you have ginger and garlic separately. but with no means to make it into a paste?

We can finely chop garlic and ginger and saute it along with onions
