Green Moong Vada | Pacha Payiru Vadai

Green Moong dal vada is a deep fried snack made using richness of Green moong. This is one of the healthiest dal and it's very tasty too. We can serve this with coconut chutney.

Equipment

  • 1 Mixer Grinder

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Green Gram (Pachai Payiru) 1 Cup - 250ml
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 6 nos Red Chili
  • 1 tsp Salt Adjust as needed
  • ¼ cup Curd (Plain Yogurt)
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tbsp Coriander Leaves
  • 2 Cups Oil For Deep Frying

Instructions

Soak Dal

  • Wash and soak the dal for 3 hours. After 3 hours, drain the water from the soaked dal.

Grinding Process

  • Take the soaked and drained dal in the mixer jar. Add ginger and red chilies and grind it to coarse paste.

Cooking Dal Paste

  • Heat a pan and add the green gram paste. Keep flame in low. Add turmeric powder and salt and keep stirring in low flame. Cook the mixture till the moisture is absorbed and the dal becomes crumbled.

Prepare Vada Mixture

  • Take the crumbled mixture in a bowl. Add curd, coriander leaves and give a good mix. Make lemon size vadas out of the vada mixture and keep it ready to deep fry them.

Deep Frying

  • Deep Fry 3-4 vadas in batches till they are golden brown and crispy. Take out the fried vadas and place them in paper towel to drain excess oil.

Serving Time

  • Serve the crunchy and yummy Green Moong Vada with Coconut Chutney or Coriander/mint Chutney.
