Mixing Bowl
Heavy Bottomed Pan
- 2 Cups Rice Flour 1 Cup - 250ml
- ¾ Cup Gram Flour (Besan / Chickpea Flour)
- ¼ teaspoon Asafoetida (Asafetida / Hing)
- 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust as needed
- 1 tablespoon Pepper Powder Coarsely ground
- 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 3 tablespoon Butter should be at room temperature
- ¼ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 3 Cups Oil For Deep Frying
Prepare Murukku Dough
Take a mixing bowl. Add rice flour, besan, asafetida, salt, freshly coarsely ground pepper powder, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, butter and mix everything well
Add water little by little and knead the flours to a smooth and soft dough
Take flower or star mould and press. Grease the inside of the press and mould with oil. Greasing oil helps us to squeeze out the dough easily out of the mould. Add 3-4 handful of murukku dough into the press and mould
Deep Frying
Heat oil in pan. If you drop a pinch of dough in oil it should rise up immediately in the oil. Hold the press and mould on top of the oil and gently squeeze the dough. Deep fry the pepper murukku till they are crispy and golden brown color
Take out the crispy murukku in a paper towel to drain any excess oil. Keep frying the murukku till all the dough is used up. Pepper Murkku is now ready to serve!
