Pasi Paruppu Ladoo | Moong Dal Laddu | Nei Urundai








Moong dal ladoo, a very healthy and nutritious ladoo made with protein rich moong dal along with iron rich jaggery. Like Maladu, rava ladoo, this ladoo is very easy to make. Roasted moong dal is ground along with jaggery to powder and then warm ghee is added to the powdered moong+jaggery mixture which is then shaped to ladoos.
We can make variety of easy to make ladoos and one such is Moong Dal Ladoo (Pasi Paruppu Laddu) also refereed as Nei Urundai. Moong dal is very healthy and nutritional. Mixing jaggery and ghee with moong dal makes it not only delicious but also healthy. Many of us already like this moong dal ladoo and make this often. We can also use sugar instead of jaggery, but i love to add jaggery as it gives more taste than the sugar and also healthy!
Nutritional Benefits of Moong Dal:
Moong dal, like other lentils and pulses is a good source of protein and dietary fibre. One of the most significant benefits of moong dal is its role in facilitating weight loss. Moong dal makes for an excellent source of plant-based proteins. The high quantum of fibre present in the dal keeps you satiated for long.
Tips for making Pasi Paruppu Urundai (Moong Dal Ladoo):
- Keep flame in low while dry roasting moong dal. Moong dal will get burnt easily so we need to be more careful in roasting moong dal
- Grinding jaggery with moong flour, releases its moisture and makes it easier to shape the ladoos
- Always warm the ghee mixture before mixing with the ladoo mixture. Warm ghee helps to shape the ladoos
- Split the ladoo mixture into portions and add ghee in one portion at a time so that other portions are not getting dried out.

Ingredients
- 1 Cup Moong Dal 1 Cup - 250ml
- ¾ Cup Grated Jaggery
- 2-3 Cardamom
- ¼ Cup Ghee (Clarified butter)
Instructions
- Dry roast the moong dal till golden brown. Let the roasted moong dal cool down.
- Take the roasted and cooled moong dal in a mixer jar. Add cardamom pods and grind it to a smooth flour
- Again add jaggery to the ground moong flour and pulse twice or thrice to make sure jaggery gets nicely mixed up with the moong flour
- In a pan, add ghee and roast the cashews till golden brown
- Take the ground moong+jaggery flour in a mixing bowl. Add roasted cashews.
- Also heat the ghee and add it to the ladoo mixture. Mix everything with a spoon. Take 1 spoon full of ladoo mixture and press and shape it to a small ball. Repeat for rest of the ladoo mixture
- The yummy Pasi Paruppu Ladoo (Moong Dal Ladoo) also called as Nei Urundai is ready to serve!
