SouthIndian Lunch Menu 1 - Vengaya Sambar, Thakkali Rasam and Urulai Kara Curry

Last Updated On: Dec 28, 2017 by Sowmya Venkatachalam

This is my favourite Sunday menu. The kitchen will be filled with the good aroma of the shallots onion(small onion) cooked with freshly ground sambar masala. I preferred to have the potato curry as a side dish for the vengaya(onion) sambar. Mixing little ghee with hot steaming rice along with vengaya sambar is delicious. Indeed the Tomato Rasam is a perfect accomplishment to this menu and increase the richness. When our platter is ready, we can fry some papad or appalam and serve them!

In day to day cooking, we all are generally expert in doing multi-tasking 🙂 cooking many dishes in parallel. This simple yet rich tasty lunch menu is one of the easiest menu to be made within an hour. Before we start off our working with vegetables, let us first cook the dal and rice in cooker. When the dal is gettting cooked, let us soak the tamarind in water separately for sambar and rasam. Proper planning of preparation helps us to finish off the menu quickly.
