Puran Poli | Puran Poli with Dal and Sugar Filling is a wonderful South Indian dessert that is prepared for any marriages in southern part of TamilNadu especially in Nagercoil. Puran Poli | Puran Poli with Dal and Sugar Filling is a sweet paratha made with maida as the outercover and cooked bengal gram dal with sugar as the filling . Conventional Puran Poli which we make for festivals has the filling of Bengal Gram dal along with jaggery.  This is complex because, the jaggery filling always gets melted quickly so sometimes the filling may come out of the outer cover. Also we cannot roll the poli like we roll as paratha. We need to use our hands to spread carefully and bind the filling inside the maida cover. But this Bengal Gram with sugar filling is very easy to handle and we can use this filling inside the outercover and roll it like a usual paratha. So, this is less complicated and this puran (filling) will never go wrong.

A perfect Dessert for any occasion!

Puran Poli | Puran Poli with Dal and Sugar Filling Poli goes very well with Paal Payasam. In Nagercoil and few other places in the kerala border, this Puran Poli | Puran Poli with Dal and Sugar Filling is served as dessert along with Paal Payasam. First Puran Poli will be served and it is topped up with generous amount of ghee and on top they will serve hot Paal Payasam. First time when I saw them serving Poli with Paal Payasam, I was so surprised and not sure how it would taste. But believe me, this is one of the wonderful combo.
