Method:

  1. Peel the skin of sweet potato and chop it into big cubes and pressure cook it. Allow for 2-3 whistles as we need to cook the sweet potatoes nicely so that it gets smashed. Even we can keep the sweet potatoes as a whole in a  vessel and pressure cook it and then we can remove the skin and smash it
  2. Take the cooked poatoes and smash it nicely
  3. In a vessel, add the smashed sweet potatoes, cumin Powder, salt and red chilli powder
  4. Add wheat flour and mix every thing nicely to make a chapati dough.
  5. Mostly we don’t need to add water to make dough. The water in the smashed potatoes are enough. If in case, they are very dry, then we can sprinkle some water to make a nice dough. Keep the dough set aside for 15 mins.
  6. After 15 mins, knead the dough again and make small balls out of the dough and using a rolling pin, roll the dough ball to a thin roti. Repeat the steps and roll the remaining balls
  7. Heat a tawa, when the tawa is hot enough, add the roti, and add little oil or butter and allow it to cook it on one side
  8. Turn the roti to another side and cook evenly. Repeat the same for cooking the rest of rotis
  9. The delicious Sweet Potato Roti is ready to serve hot with dal or any veg gravies

Yep, you can try that way too, but make sure you steam cook the sweet potatoes so that the sweet potatoes will be cooked and smashed dry and you can take and stuff the same

THAT'S NOVEL AND NUTRITIOUS.
FEW YEARS BACK IN KODAIKANAL I HAD A DISH IN THALI MEAL. IT HAD SMALL DRIED BALLS AND WHITE GRAVY WITH CINNAMON FLAVOR. WHEN I ASKED THEY SAID IT WAS 'VATRAL KOlUMBU.' NOW I UNDERSTAND IT WAS KUZHAMBU.
A FRIEND GOT ME THE VATRAL ( DRY BALLS)FROM CHENNAI. BUT NO BODY COULD TELL ME WHAT THE WHITE GRAVY WAS.
[MY YOUNGER DAUGHTER-IN-LAW IS FROM TAMIL IYER FAMILY- SHE MAKES KUZHAMBU BUT WITH TAMARIND SO IT IS BROWN.]
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT IS?COULD YOU PLEASE POST THAT RECIPE?
THANKS A LOT.
