
Chammanthi podi is one of the popular Kerala dish, also called as Idli Chammanthi Podi. This is a chutney powder made with roasted coconut along with indian spices. A best complement for South Indian Idli/Dosa varieties. This is a simpler version of Chammanthi Podi. There is another variation called "Nadan Chammanthi" where onions and garlic are also added to enhance this podi. Very quick and easy to make chutney powder with strong flavor of coconut. | Urad Dal | ¼ Cup |
| Red Chilli | 20 |
| Tamarind | 1 Gooseberry size |
| Asafetida | ¼ teaspoon |

Method:
- Heat a pan and add freshly grated coconut. Add urad dal and roast them together till they are light brown color
- Then, add red chili, tamarind, asafetida, curry leaves and dry roast everything till coconut turns deep brown color
- Allow these roasted ingredients to cool off completely. Add salt and grind everything to a coarse powder. Store the chammanthi podi in an air-tight container
- The delicious Chammanthi Podi is ready to serve with Idli / Dosa !
