Kadali Maavu Sambar is an instant Kuzhambu made with least number of ingredients. This goes very well with Idli, Pongal and Dosa.  Made just using tamarind concentrate, chili powder and besan flour as a key ingredients.  This is also called as Bombay Sambar.
Few Variations that you may want to try while making Kadalai Maavu Instant Sambar
  1. Instead of onion, you can use shallots (small onion). This gives an excellent taste and flavor to the kuzhambu
  2. Add 1 or 2 green chili if you like it more spicy. This gives a great flavor to the kuzhambu
  3.  You can use Sambar Powder instead of Red Chili powder
  4. We prefer to make without garlic. But if you like the garlic flavor then you can also add 3-4 cloves of garlic

If you like this Instant Kadalai Maavu Sambar, then you can also try other accompaniments for Idli / Dosa

  1. Tiffin Sambar - Idli Sambar | MoongDal Sambar is a mixed vegetable moong dal based sambar which is a perfect Side Dish for Idli / Dosa / Upma / Pongal.  A perfect side dish for any South Indian Breakfast
  2. Bombay Chutney Recipe - Bombay Chutney is a slightly different and delicious accompaniment to dosa/ idli/chapati/ poori. It is not only unique, but also very simple to make. A mild, yet flavorful dish, bombay chutney is a great substitute to the usual accompaniments served daily.
  3. Kumbakonam Kadappa - Onions and Potatoes cooked with fennel and garlic flavored coconut gravy is a perfect accompaniment for hot Idli. This is one of the popular dish in Kumbakonam and usually served as an accompaniment to idli.
