If we have dosa batter at hands, then this Spinach (Palak) dosa is very easy and quick to make healthy breakfast with the richness of spinach.

Want to make the usual Dosa healthier? Try this Palak Dosa (Spinach Dosa) and its a way to make the little ones eat healthy greens too. Very simple to make evening tiffin or even for breakfast. If we have dosa batter at home, this this dish will take no time to make. Its just the washing of spinach takes more time than making. Making sure to wash the palak leaves thoroughly. Cooking spinach is only couple of minutes and then making a puree and adding it to dosa batter. Thats it 🙂 Spinach Dosa Batter ready! Then its usual dosa making process. Also try to spread the batter to a thin dosa, so that the dosa becomes nice and crispy. The ghee is additional ingredient which aids in making crispy dosa in low flame. Try this Spinach Dosa and even your kids would love it!

If we have dosa batter at hands, then this Spinach (Palak) dosa is very easy and quick to make healthy breakfast with the richness of spinach.

Ingredients

  • 4 Cups Dosa Batter
  • 2 Cups Spinach
  • 2 Green Chili
  • 2" Piece Ginger
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 4 tbsp Ghee / Cooking Oil For Cooking Dosa

Instructions 

  • Wash the spinach thoroughly. Heat 4 cups of water. Add 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and bring the water to boil
  • When the water starts to boil, add spinach. Add green chili and ginger and cook the spinach for 3-4 minutes and then switch off the flame
  • Drain the water from cooked spinach. Allow the cooked spinach to cool off completely. Add the cooked and drained spinach along with green chili and ginger and grind it to a paste
  • Add the ground paste to the dosa batter and stir well
  • Heat a tawa. Test the hotness of tawa  by sprinkling little water. If the water sizzles then the tawa is ready. 
  • Pour a ladle of batter and spread it to a thin dosa. Keep the flame in low. Add 1/2 teaspoon of ghee and allow the dosa to cook and becomes crispy and light brown
  • Gently using a spatula take out the cooked dosa in a plate. No need to flip the dosa as it is very thin.
  • The delicious Spinach dosa is now ready to serve!

Notes

  1. We can add a pinch of camphor or soda salt to maintain the green color of the spinach.
  2. We can cook the dosa in ghee to get crispy dosa. We can also cook in oil

Method for making Spinach Dosa with Step by Step Pictures:
