Raw Banana Chips Recipe | Vazhakkai Chips Recipe

Chips are favorite not only for kids but also for grown-ups. We all love to eat some crispy chips. Chips with hot tea / coffee is a perfect evening snack. We can make chips using potato, sweet potato, raw banana and many more veggies. This Raw Banana Chips is very popular in Southern part of India. We can make salted raw banana chips or season it with pepper or chill powder to make it spicy.

Ingredients:
Raw Banana 6
Oil * For Frying
Salt To taste
Pepper Powder ½ teaspoon

* Coconut Oil gives a wonderful flavor to this chips. But you can also use your usual cooking oil.

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan for frying the raw banana slices
  2. Wash and peel the skin of the raw banana. 
  3. Slice the peeled Raw Banana into thin slices using a slicer. You can slice ½ banana at a time. Slice them and add it immediately to hot oil to avoid decolorization. 
  4. Deep fry the raw banana in hot oil till they are crispy and all the bubbles ceases.
  5. Take out the fried raw banana pieces and place it in paper towel to drain excess oil
  6. Then again slice the rest half of the banana and repeat the process of frying. Repeat this for rest of the raw bananas
  7. Sprinkle salt and pepper powder and shake it gently to mix the spice and salt with the fried raw banana chips
  8. The crunchy Raw Banana chips are ready to serve!
