Last Updated On: Dec 28, 2017 by Sowmya Venkatachalam

Green Peas paratha is a very delicious, healthy and filling breakfast. The medium coarse texture of butter sauteed filling made of green peas, chillies, coriander leaves and spices makes this stuffed peas paratha a delicious treat. Most of us have green peas handy in our refrigerator. We can use fresh green peas or even the frozen peas. Either way this green peas based filling is so simple and easy to make.

Method:

  1. First in a mixing bowl, add wheat flour, salt and mix well. Add  water little by little and knead it to a dough. Add oil and knead the dough again till you make into a smooth and soft dough
  2. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and set it aside for 15 mins
  3. Meanwhile, lets prepare the filling. Take the green peas and wash it thoroughly. Take the peas in a sauce pan. Add water along with salt and turmeric powder and allow it to boil for 5-6 minutes.
  4. Once the green peas is cooked, remove from gas and strain it and allow the cooked peas to cool off
  5. Take the boiled and cooled green peas in a mixer jar. Add green chili, ginger and coriander leaves to the mixer jar and grind everything to a coarse paste without adding water. The moisture in the cooked peas is enough to make a coarse paste. Add water only if needed
  6. Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds and allow it to sputter. Add the chopped onions and saute the onions till translucent
  7. Add coarsely ground peas+spice paste. Stir-Fry the mixture in high flame so that all the moisture gets absorbed and the filling becomes dry. If the filling is semi solid then  we can't stuff them inside the paratha.
  8. Take the dough and make equal sized dough balls. Then make each ball like a cup and stuff 1 tablespoon of filling inside each cup and gently bring all the corners and seal the edges
  9. Roll this stuffing filled dough ball gently to make sure the filling doesn't comes out and roll into slightly thicker paratha
  10. Heat a tawa and cook each paratha on both the sides and apply butter or ghee
  11. The delicious Green Peas Paratha Ready to serve!
