Aloo Patta Gobhi Curry / Potato Cabbage Stir Fry
Aloo Patta Gobi curry is an easy dish made by stir frying potatoes and shreded cabbage with mild spices. It's low calorie and rich in fiber. This can be served with rotis or with plain rice.
Aloo Patta Gobhi Curry is a simple stir-fry made using Potatoes and Cabbage with mild masalas. Sometimes even simple dry curries tastes great and are perfect accompaniment for Indian breads like Roti / Naan etc. Aloo Patta Gobi is amazing in taste and very simple to make. We can even stuff this dry curry inside chapati and roll it and keep it in lunch box. Cabbage is a versatile vegetable which can be cooked in different ways. When its cooked with Potatoes it’s lip-smacking!.
Variations & Tips in making Aloo Patta Gobi Subzi
- You can also add Tomato & Onion while making this Subzi. I would like to keep it simple hence i have not used Tomato & Onion. If you like it add one tomato and 1 chopped onion and mix it with this subzi
- Shred the cabbage in stead of chopping them. For this recipe, the long thin pieces of cabbage are preferred.
- You can straight away add the boiled potatoes also to this subzi instead of cooking it directly. It will save some time.

Ingredients
- 200 grams Cabbage (Patta Gobi)
- 4 nos Potato medium size
- ¼ cup green peas
- 1½ tsp Salt adjust to your taste
- 1 handful Coriander Leaves For Garnishing
Spices
- 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
Other Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Cooking Oil
- 2 nos Green Chili Slit
- 1 sprig Curry leaves
- ¼ tsp Asafoetida (Asafetida / Hing)
Instructions
Preparation
- Cube the Potatoes and soak it in water. Shread the Cabbage and keep it ready.
Making of the Subzi
- Heat a heavy bottom pan and add oil. Once the oil is hot add Cumin seeds and allow it to sputter. Add the slit green chili, hing and curry leaves.
- Now add Turmeric powder, Coriander powder, red chili powder and garam masala to the pan. Sauté the spice powders in low flame for 20 secs.
- Add the Potatoes and mix well. Place a lid and cook the Potato in medium flame till it is 90% cooked. Mix it occasionally so potatoes doesn't get burnt
- Once the potatoes are almost cooked, add the cabbage, green peas, salt and mix well.
- Place a lid and cook it in low flame for about 10-12 minutes. Mix it in between so that it does not stick into the pan or burn.
- When the cabbage is cooked completely, add the fresh coriander leaves and remove it from flame
- The yummy Aloo Patta Gobi is ready to serve with Roti/Rice
