Parboiled Rice Porridge (Puzhungal Arisi Kanji) | Homemade Rice Cereal
Puzhungal arisi (Parboiled rice) Kanji is one of the common kanji we start for babies. Its a very saathvik food we can give it to babies, New mom's and any adults. Very healthy and good for stomach.
Having High running temperature?? Feeling Tired? Are you preparing food for “Just Delivered Mom” ? Want to start a porridge for 6 months old baby? Or just to have a rich and healthy porridge, then Parboiled Rice Porridge (Puzhungal Arisi Kanji) is the one and only best option for us.
My sister used to say that this porridge has a capability of bringing down the temperature and helps us to get strength we lost because of illness. Not only that, for new mom, this porridge used to be their supper atleast for a month as part of the Balanced Diet. It is the second good semi-solid food for the 6 month old babies other than Raagi porridge. We can prepare this porridge powder and store it in an air-tight container and use it whenever needed. Whenever we need to make, we can take 2-3 teaspoon of this powder and cook in boiling water. We can add salt or sugar according to our need. Also we can add buttermilk or rasam and make it more interesting.

Wow! Thanks for this dish !
can we use normal rice (sona masoori) instead of raw rice?
Hello, this is a parboiled rice recipe. parboiled or boiled rice are much more healthier than the raw rice especially for kids & toddlers. Raw rice especially what we get in market today as white polished rice are unhealthy as all the healthier stuff in the rice are removed and the rice has only starch. so better to use boiled or parboiled rice
Hi Subbu maami, Can this rice porridge be fed for 5 month old babies? If yes, can they handle it if I include omam? Also want to know if manathakkali vathal can just be added for garnish and the rice porridge alone be fed to the baby. Even in which case again, can they handle ghee? Please let me know.
Thank you so much for the recipe.
I use sona masoori for making this kanjii…i use to pan fry rice, jeera, omam, pepper together..till spices mix up and give flavor…
Later give it a grind n mixie and add in boiling water…cook till kanji consistency..
Spices can b added accordin to our taste..
This goes good with paruppuu thogaiyal
