Sweet Potato Halwa Recipe | Sakkaraivellikizhangu Halwa Recipe

Sweet Potato by itself is delicious. Many of us just boil sweet potato and mix with jaggery and make it an evening snack which is so tasty and also healthy.  We can make delicious halwa with sweet potato. This halwa variety is so easy to make. There is no expertise needed to make this dessert. A perfect dessert for any party.  Try this Sweet Potato Halwa and share your experience!

Ingredients:
Sweet Potato  4 nos or 1 Cup mashed
Sugar ½ Cup
Milk ¾ Cup
Cardamom Powder ½ Teaspoon
Ghee / Butter 6 Tablespoon
Cashews Few

Method:

  1. Boil 4-5 medium sweet potatoes and mash it well . Measure 1 Cup of mashed sweet potato and set it aside
  2. Heat 4 tablespoon of ghee / butter in a pan. Add 1 Cup of mashed sweet potato and saute well in ghee for 3-4 minutes
  3. Then, add milk and stir well. Keep stirring in medium flame till all the milk gets incorporated well with sweet potato and the mixture becomes thick.  We can also use evaporated milk instead of plain milk and it will speed up the process
  4. Then, add sugar and stir well. Adding sugar loosen up the mixture and so we need to again keep stirring
  5. When the mixture is thick, add butter and mix well. Then, add cardamom powder and mix well
  6. Keep stirring occasionally till the halwa starts to roll like a ball without sticking to the sides of the pan. The ghee will also starts to ooze out of the halwa. Switch off the flame
  7. Roast few cashews in ghee and add it to the halwa and mix well
  8. Serve the delicious Sweet Potato Halwa hot and enjoy the dessert!
