Bread Sweet Kachori

Last Updated On: Dec 28, 2017 by Sowmya Venkatachalam

I came across this recipe in one of the TV shows and found very interesting and thought of doing this today. Sweets are always my favourite and this Bread Sweet Kachori tastes wonderful. The filling is coconut and sugar. We can also substitute with jaggery also in that case it is our usual pooranam we prepare for kozhukattai. I have here used sugar and coconut. Generally for the outercover of kachori, we use maida flour. In this recipe, our base is bread and a very little amount maida and another difference from the traditional kachori is that we are going to do a shallow frying of kachoris and not deep frying. So oil consumption is also less. Lets see the preparation now...

Method:

  1. Heat a pan and add sugar and grated coconut and start stirring till it rolls like a ball. Add Cardamom powder and mix well and add ghee and mix well
  2. Keep stirring the coconut-sugar filling and once it starts rolling, remove from flame. Allow it to cool off. Meanwhile, soak the bread slices in water and immediately remove from water
  3. Squeeze the bread slices well to drain the water and make it like a dough. Add maida and a pinch of salt and mix well. Now our bread dough is ready
  4. Grease your palm with oil and take a lemon sized ball of dough and make like a cup as we do for kozhukattai outer cover and place a teaspoon of coconut filling in the middle of the cup
  5. Gently cover the cup, and pat it once to make it like a kachori so that filling nicely spreads in the kachori. Repeat this step for the remaining bread dough and filling. Heat a tawa and place 2-3 kachoris and pour oil around each kachori and keep the flame low and allow it to cook on one side. Then flip it off the other side and fry the kachoris and when both the sides turn golden brown color, remove them from flame and add the next batch.
  6. Now our yummy and tasty Bread Sweet Kachoris are ready to serve
